Well next week, Nov 7th is the start of the APEC (Asian Pacific Economic Commission) summit being held in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. Many protestors have flown in to show their disagreements and blatant disregard of this event and what the members are suppose to be here to discuss and "supposedly" accomplish. Twenty-One delegates, each representing a different country will be here with their assistants, some with families, etc. Waikiki is going to be a jungle for the residents and visitors alike as many roads will be closed off to public access, walking and driving. So basically, if you don't have business in Waikiki, stay away. I have family members who work in Waikiki and have to travel a fair distance (for hawaii standards anyway) to get there, and they will definitely have to endure road closures, traffic jams, etc. Patience is a must this week.
So coming to visit Waikiki is NOT a good idea. However, Turtle Bay on the North Shore is a beautiful option and they have horseback riding, surfing, snorkeling in a private ocean bay, spa, and many other amenities. Ko'Olina and Ihilani as well as the new, Aulani Disney Resort may not be good ideas to visit next weekend either, as we're told the members will be traveling to that location next weekend. (By bus? or individual cars) That's gonna be disasterous for resident drivers. The city is closing the freeway during their travel hours, which is just nuts. I understand its for their safety, but they should have planned this better to keep our inconvenience at a minimum, maybe having them travel between 11 PM and 4 AM. lol lol
This is my very first blog, so bare with me. I'm basically doing this out of boredom and a need to write. Well, I guess I'll sign out for now.
